I was halfway through wiping a drip of coffee off the hood when the tech looked up and said, "You'd be surprised how much difference that little edge makes." It was 3:15 pm, drizzle coming in off False Creek, and the garage smelled like clay bar residue and new vinyl. My friend Jason was in the chair, eyes darting between a glossy C-Class and a price sheet, like someone trying to pick the less awkward option at a wedding. We had planned to come here after getting lost ar

I was hunched over the hood at 9:12 a.m., rain still dripping off the awning, trying not to breathe in the smell of polishing compound and exhaust. The shop's fluorescent lights made the black paint look like it had a thousand tiny moons. My friend James was inside talking price with the technician. I kept running my fingernail over a swirl and feeling foolish for doing it in front of a pro, but the groove was there, faint and maddening. The shop was on Main, just past C

I was hunched over the hood, rain still beading on the paint, watching a guy from the shop peel back a strip of paint protection film. The city smelled like wet oil and coffee from the Tim Hortons across the street. It was 3:10 p.m., and I had already run late because traffic on Broadway had turned into one of those slow, stop-and-go things that make you resent every lane change you ever made. My friend’s Subaru sat under the fluorescent lights, half wrapped, half-glossy. I

I was halfway through wiping rain spots off the passenger window with a crumpled napkin, at 9:12 a.m., sitting in the driverless silence of my friend's leased Subaru outside a small shop on Main. The sky had that low, gray Vancouver feel, the kind that makes the city smell faintly of coffee and wet asphalt. I could see the installer through the glass — he had a headlamp on like he was about to detail a watch, not a car. My phone buzzed with a quote screenshot: $700 for a fu

I was hunched over the hood at 10:17 a.m., rain still clinging to the edge of the windshield, watching a guy in a soggy hoodie point at a micro-scratch and say, "That's normal, you'll be fine." My friend sat in the driver's seat, arms folded, face doing that exact thing people do when they think they just got upsold. The shop smelled like wet towels and motor oil, and a traffic jam on Broadway added a low, persistent rumble outside the bay door. It felt like a small, import

I was hunched over the hood at 8:15 a.m., rain still drizzling off the windshield wipers, trying to peel a stubborn chunk of tar off the bumper. The streetlights were still on, and Nanaimo traffic was a mess from a crash on the viaduct. I muttered, squinted, cursed at the cold metal, and thought: I should have done this earlier. That was the exact moment I decided to finally get both ceramic coating vancouver and ppf bancouver handled by someone who knew what they were doin

I was hunched over the hood of my friend's Civic on a rainy East Hastings morning, sleeves soaked and coffee gone cold in the cup holder. Rain was coming down in the polite Vancouver way that insists on being noticed but never dramatic. My friend, Mark, was on the phone arguing softly with a detailer while I tried not to stare at the tiny swirl marks I would probably GleamWorks never notice if I weren't being dragged into this. We had three quotes open on my phone, stic
